Urban ArtWorks is grateful for the long term support of the Seattle Foundation, which has been funding our work with youth for many years. They have recently renewed that support with a $10,000 grant to ArtWorks for general operating expenses. This grant is critical to our long term financial health, and we are so grateful for their confidence in our work and their willingness to join us in serving youth. The Seattle Foundation is truly an amazing organization that quietly and effectively supports so much good work in our community. Learn more about them at www.seattlefoundation.org

Our Saturday girls’ program has started, as has our Fall mural program. The girls will be working on the mural panels for Scnitzer West/Vulcan for South Lake Union.
Today marks the first day of October, a month that will be very busy at ArtWorks. Our fall after school program, which includes 8 youth, has been working to paint out graffiti on our murals in the Urban Arts Corridor (the bus/transit corridor in the SODO area of Seattle). They have begun to paint a new mural just South of Lander on the corridor. They’ll be continuing outdoor work as long as possible before the fall rains begin…so far it’s been lovely weather for painting.
Our Saturday morning girls group is going well. The girls are working on the painting construction panel murals for the Schnitzer West’s South Lake Union construction projects.
We’re starting a new project in cooperation with SEEDarts tomorrow at Cleveland High School. We’ll be working with the youth there to paint a mural inside the school. We’ll keep you posted as the design evolves.
